Scott Shannon, the study’s main author and assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Colorado, thought that some people are getting better sleep with CBD because they are worried less about their sleep issues. Scientists have some biological explanations with recent studies on how cannabis compounds like CBD interact throughout the body to the receptors in the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system affects the body’s physiological functions, including sleep and anxiety, which are related to the body’s sleep/wake cycle. CBD interacts with a receptor in the brain that is known to be in control of anxiety.

You should definitely speak with your doctor first to see if they recommend trying out CBD. The benefits for CBD helping as a sleep aid are still unclear but show very few side effects.
